Acer Liquid Jade: Company’s Best Attempt at Smartphones
Acer is back and arguably with its best Smartphone in the recent years. We won’t be exaggerating but the Jade of the fabled Liquid series is all set to bring in a lot of innovation onto the table whereas the specs are certainly class lending to say least. As Acer allows the users to carry around the Smartphones based on the personality and style, the inclusion of the Liquid Jade was almost fitting as per the latest norms. To sum up the introductory part we would like to state that this might be or definitely is the best possible handset the company has ever launched with the potent camera and an awe-inspiring design. It still looks more like basic phone but getting the Acer branding at such a paltry price tag isn’t such a bad option after all.
Pros: The design is pretty classy whereas the slimmer layout offers a feathery feel as well. The CPU looks quite good whereas the saver mode is something to vouch for. Again the camera unit is certainly quite capable of clicking out extraordinary images while adding versatility into the mix.
Cons: Branded apps aren’t that good looking either whereas the performances are pretty average. The internal storage limit again is a quite restrictive whereas the display is more of an average layout.
The Liquid Jade from Acer is certainly one of the better options for someone who is willing to take a chance with the company. The layout is certainly a great option to bank upon whereas the specs sheet is certainly a detailed one.
The offered design cues are pretty classy for the budget range which ensures that the gadget is on the slimmer side. The layout extends up to a reasonable 7.5mm whereas the weight is set at 110g. The offered layout looks a pretty sizeable and futuristic as is the case with Acer. This is one neatly designed handset which offers the faux metal trimmings across the edges. The bezels are slimmer than usual whereas the jacket or the casing looks quite sturdy even for the polycarbonate make. The feathery feel is accentuated by the plastic covering whereas the fingerprints do come in easily into the mix. Most of the physical buttons are added into the mix with the micro USB port sitting pretty in addition to the dual SIM card slots and the volume controllers.
This isn’t actually a high-end handset and the offered resolution for the given screen justifies the same. While the layout is pretty expansive at 5 inches, the HD resolution leaves much to be desired in terms of pixel density. The 720p on offer is certainly something to vouch for as the gadget offers 294ppi in terms of pixel density. The IPS LCD panel is worth looking at whereas most of the viewing angles are well taken care of. The Liquid Jade offers a lot of color combinations in 16M whereas the multi-touch facilities are rendered pretty effectively. The best part however has to be the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection which protects the gadget from unwanted scratches and blemishes.
The latest version of android OS is provided by the gadget which entails to the KitKat v4.4.2. This offers a lot of applications while some are company centric as well which are a bit out-dated as per the personal experiences.
The MediaTek MT6582 chipset is certainly worth looking at whereas the offered processor is set at quad-core. All the 4 cortex cores clock at a respectable 1.3GHz whereas the Mali-400 MP2 GPU offers a lot in terms of multitasking needs and gaming performances. The processor thus comes in as one fast spec which offers quite a lot for the given budget but the performances rendered at still pretty average.
The internal memory allotment is pretty limiting for the Liquid Jade even if we had high hopes pinned to this gadget. The 8GB on offer is a paltry layout whereas most of the space is taken up by the OS and several preinstalled apps which come along. The RAM allotment isn’t sizeable as per the expected lines but the 1GB offered is still quite a reasonable bet.
The rear unit comes in at 13MP which is one substantial module in terms of camera suites and multiple specs. The offered image capturing resolution is set at 4160x3120 pixels which effectively support attributes like the autofocus and LED flashlight. Geo-tagging support is rendered in addition to the HD recording spec at 1080p. The front camera module is set at 2MP which click acceptable pictures in the form of selfies.
This segment is by far the most disappointing one with a meager battery pack rated at 2100mAh which might need multiple charges throughout the day.
The Liquid Jade from Acer leaves a lot to be desired but can still be considered as one of the better gadgets manufactured by the company. While the processor looks quite nifty, the camera units pack in a lot of punch besides the average looking battery.
