Pentax WG-10: Featuring a 14MP Image Sensor and Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization
Pentax has recently launched the WG-10, a compact that packs in a lot in terms of sensor capabilities. The WG-10 is one affordable camera that is waterproof and can withstand certain inclement weather conditions. Here is how the specs sheet associated with the same looks like in detail:
The Pentax WG-10 packs in a 14MP image sensor that supports 4288x3216 pixels as the maximum image resolution. Other denominations are supported as well with the lowest being 640x480 pixels. In terms of image ratio, the Pentax WG-10 supports 1:1, 4:3 and the standard 16:9. The CCD image sensor offers a 1/ 2.3 inch layout and measures 6.17mmx4.55mm in terms of dimensions. The Pentax WG-10 offers an extended ISO sensitivity range of 125-6400 besides the auto mode, suitable for low-light clicks. 4 white balance presets are also included besides the custom white balance mode. The Pentax WG-10 misses out on the RAW image format but the JPEG quality levels like Good, Better and Best are supported. In terms of image stabilization, the Pentax WG-10 supports sensor shift.
Focus and Optics
The Pentax WG-10 offers a focal range of 28-140mm. Optical zooming capabilities are showcased for up to 5X. The Pentax WG-10 packs in a pretty powerful lens with the lens aperture range of F3.5-F5.5. Autofocus is supported by the Pentax WG-10 in addition to the several featured modes like contrast detect, tracking, single and many more. The Pentax WG-10 also supports digital zoom for up to 6.7X. In terms of focus range, the Pentax WG-10 packs in 6 points to rely upon. Normal focus range for the same is 50cm and the macro focus range is 1cm.
The Pentax WG-10 packs in a fixed 2.7 inch screen. In terms of display resolution, the widescreen panel offers 230K dots. The TFT color LCD supports the anti-reflective coating but clearly misses out on touch support. The Pentax WG-10 packs in the Live View but lacks the dedicated viewfinder.
Photography and Videography
The Pentax WG-10 offers a shutter speed range of 4-1/4000 sec. Subject or scene modes are included in plenty besides the availability of the built-in flash support. The Pentax WG-10 offers an extended flash range of 1.20m. External flash isn’t supported by the Pentax WG-10. In terms of flash modes, the Pentax WG-10 packs in auto, on, off, shift and the red-eye. A self-timer is included besides 3 metering modes and the exposure compensation mode.
HD recording is supported by the Pentax WG-10 at 30fps besides VGA and 240p, each at 30 and 15 frames per second. In terms of video formats, MPEG-4 and H.264 are supported. Mono speaker and mono microphone are also included.
Connectivity and Storage
The Pentax WG-10 supports USB 2.0 and micro HDMI output. Eye-Fi connectivity is featured besides the optional remote access. Internal storage tick for the same is 97MB, expandable via the SD, SDXC and SDHC digital cards.
Build and Battery:
The Pentax WG-10 is environmentally sealed and packs in the Li-Ion D-LI92 battery module, supporting up to 260 shots on a single charge.
