Panasonic’s Lumix series of cameras have been one of the popularly sought out cameras in the photography community. Post the success of the DMC FP3 camera; Panasonic introduced the Lumix DMC FP7 camera. Here is a review on this camera:
The DMC-FP7 features a 1/2.33-inch CCD with effective 16.1-megapixel high-resolution. The camera features a 4x optical zoom LUMIX DC VARIO lens (35mm camera equivalent: 35-140mm). The folded optics of the shaft guide method is adopted to secure the toughness of the lens unit. Comprising 11 elements and a prism unit in 10 groups, including an ED (Extra Low Dispersion) lens and 4 aspherical lenses with 7 aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit renders high resolution image corner to corner even adopting the folded optics. The 4x optical zoom can be increased its power to 5x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom function taking advantage of the Intelligent Resolution technology maintaining the picture quality even using digital zoom. Furthermore, the Extra Optical Zoom function that extends zoom power to 9x by using the center part of brings subjects even closer. The camera features a Venus Engine VI that enables the recording of beautiful images with higher quality signal processing including the Intelligent Resolution technology.
It also has a Sonic Speed AF system that includes numerous re-engineering enhancements, including a higher-speed actuator, optimized algorithms and parallel software processing. The camera’s Intelligent Resolution technology performs signal processing pixel by pixel in the most effective way for it. As a result, images are naturally clear and crisp. This camera takes excellent photos with ease. Its versatile Scene Mode range, which handles just about any situation and subject type (27 scenes), is a major LUMIX feature. The camera also features a High-speed burst mode that fires off up to approx. 4.4 frames per second. This is great for capturing fast-moving sports or racing scenes. The 11-area AF on this camera automatically determines the most appropriate AF area from 11 points. The camera has a panorama assist mode that aligns panorama photos using the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 6.0 Edition.
This camera can also play a slideshow with music. With 4 different music options to choose from such as; Natural, Slow, Swing and urban, this camera has transition effects to match the music of ones choice. In addition to this, the camera also features 8 creative color modes (Standard, Vivid, Sepia, Black & White, Cool, Warm, Natural and Happy) to tweak the creative expertise a bit more. It also has 28 different scene modes including Portrait, Panorama Assist, Pet, Party, Scenery, Fireworks, Beach, Pin Hole, Baby, etc.
Design and Display:
This camera is built with a touch of perfection and a whole lot of user friendliness. Dominating the rear portion of this camera is a 3.5-inch LCD monitor. This monitor has excellent composition and to top it all up, it is a touch screen display. The display gives the user smooth, free and touch-enabled shooting. The AF settings including zoom can be handled through the touch screen display.
Panasonic Lumix DMC FP7 is an excellent camera that comes at a great price. This camera has the inclusion of a great LCD touch enabled display. Sadly, it lacks a few of the latest features such as Wi-Fi, NFC etc. That said, it makes for a great compact camera.
