Olympus OM-D E-M10: Featuring CMOS Image Sensor and 7 White Balance Presets
Olympus has recently unveiled the OM-D E-M10, a promising camera that is loaded with certain high-end attributes. The OM-D E-M10 is a proper mirrorless, styled on the lines of a DSLR. The OM-D E-M10 offers a 16MP image sensor that translates out of the 17MP sensor photo detector. The OM-D E-M10 packs in the TruePic VII image processor that is ably supported by the CMOS image sensor. In terms of display resolution, the OM-D E-M10 offers 4608x3456 pixels besides supporting other denominations like 3200x2400 pixels and 1280x960 pixels. Supported image ratios for the same is 1:1, 4:3, 3:2 and the standard 16:9. The four-thirds image sensor measures 17.30mmx13mm in terms of dimensions. In terms of image sensitivity, the OM-D E-M10 packs in an extensive range of 200-25600 besides the Auto mode, suitable for low-light shooting. 7 white balance presets are up for grabs besides the 4-slot custom white balance mode. Sensor-shift image stabilization is offered with a 3-axis management. RAW or the uncompressed image format is supported as well in addition to the Basic, Fine, Super Fine and Normal JPEG quality levels.
Focus and Optics
The OM-D E-M10 supports autofocus in addition to the several featured modes like contrast detect, center, tracking, single and Live View. Manual focus is featured besides the 81 focus points to rely upon. The sensor is ably supported by the Micro-Four thirds lens mount besides the 2X focal length multiplier.
The OM-D E-M10 boasts of a tilting TFT LCD monitor. A 3 inch screen is featured with a display resolution of 1,037K dots. The OM-D E-M10 offers a shutter speed range of 60-1/4000 sec. Aperture, shutter and the manual exposure modes are supported as well. The OM-D E-M10 supports built-in flash in accordance with the RC flash system. An extended flash range of 5.80mm is on offer and that too at ISO 100. External flash is supported besides the supported modes like slow sync and many more. Continuous shooting is allowed at 8fps. 3 metering modes are incorporated besides the self-timer, exposure compensation mode and the WB bracketing.
Movies in Full HD can be recorded besides HD and VGA snippets, both at 30fps. H.264 is the supported format followed by the Motion JPEG. Stereo microphone and mono speaker are also integrated.
Connectivity and Storage
The OM-D E-M10 supports USB 2.0 in addition to the micro-HDMI output and built-in wireless support. Remote access via the optional remote cable is also allowed. SD, SDXC and SDHC digital cards are supported.
