Olympus OM-D E-M1: Featuring the TruePIC VII Sensor, Sensor Shift Image Stabilization and a Bundled Lens Kit

Olympus has launched the OM-D E-M1, a high-end Mirrorless camera that looks more like an SLR. This camera will roll out pretty soon and boasts of a wider repertoire in terms of hardware and connectivity schemes. Here is how the specs sheet looks like in detail:


The OM-D E-M1 starts off with a 16MP image sensor that offers a maximum image resolution of 4608x3456 pixels. The Four Thirds sensor measures 17.30mmx13mm in terms of dimensions. The CMOS image sensor also supports multiple aspect ratios in 1:1, 16:9, 4:3 and the standard 3:2. In terms of the processing unit, the OM-D E-M1 features the TruePIC VII image processor. The OM-D E-M1 boasts of an exhaustive ISO sensitivity limit of 100-25600 in addition to 7 white balance presets. The custom white balance mode is existent alongside the RAW image format. The OM-D E-M1 supports 5 axis image stabilization based on the sensor shift technology. In terms of JPEG quality levels, Super fine, fine, basic and normal modes are supported.

Focus and Optics

In terms of the features lens mount, the OM-D E-M1 boasts of the Micro Four Thirds, offering the focal length multiplication limit of up to 2X. Digital zooming prowess is exhibited at 2X. The OM-D E-M1 boasts of a 3 inch tilting screen with 1037K dots as the offered resolution. Touch screen support is rendered in addition to the Live View and Electronic Viewfinder. The featured viewfinder offers a screen resolution of 2360K dots and boasts of 100 percent coverage and 1.48X magnification limit.
