The IXUS 265 HS camera sports a 16 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor. This sensor is responsible for some of the finest images. Additional credit goes to the Digic 4+ image processor that comes on board with this camera. It also has a 12x optical zoom that is capable of shooting fine landscape images and such. This camera also carries plenty of interesting features that are worth the money spent. The HS on this camera denoted High sensitivity system. The major advantage of a Digic 4+ processor over Digic 4 is that the 4+ is an enhanced version of the 4. According to Canon, processing of high ISO shots has been shortened by 60%, allows for the integration of electronic Dynamic IS, which compensates for multiple motion types, and also extends battery life. This camera has an ECO mode that is a battery saving system that has to be enabled in the Main menu.
This camera has a 3-position switch that selects between Auto, Creative Shot and Hybrid Auto modes. In case the creative bug in you likes to experiment, the camera delivers a modest but useful range of effects. There's those Creative Shot and Hybrid Auto modes mentioned earlier, but if you delve into the shooting mode menu you'll also find effects like fish-eye and miniature distortions, plus a ubiquitous toy camera retro look. These are mixed in with regular shooting modes, which also include a useful Smart Shutter function, which will automatically snap your shot when the camera detects a smiling face. Switch to the My Colours menu and you can set all shots to be automatically recorded with enhanced colour saturation, sepia tones or in monochrome. Interestingly, this camera features Wi-Fi connectivity that allows users to upload their works of art online.
However, canon has decided to get a little extra creative by introducing the Camera Window app. Simply download the Canon Camera Window app from App Store or Google Play and connect the camera to a smart phone for wireless control. The smart phone can use its GPS service to geotag photos. The IXUS 265 HS also features NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, which allows users to connect it to a compatible Internet enabled device or another NFC-enabled camera by simply tapping them together.
Design and Display:
This camera carries an aluminium body and carries a combined weight of 146 grams. It is pocket friendly and carries 59 x 100 x 23 mm dimensions. This camera carries a set of 2 menus for quick access to frequently used features and another one for in-depth modes. The camera supports SDXC cards and is also powered by lithium Li-ion battery that offers decent battery backup.
The Canon IXUS 265 HS camera is one of the finest and arguably a great camera for an attractive price. This camera has all the features that are essential for gadget freaks and photography enthusiasts.
