Canon has introduced a new camera under its Powershot series that is codenamed G 5X. Here is a small yet comprehensive review on this camera if you are seriously considering it. The price of this camera is yet to be revealed, but here are the tech-specs:


Canon Powershot G5X is a camera that incorporates a BSI-CMOS sensor. Its backside-illuminated sensor has created a revolution and it is more sensitive in low light over the CMOS sensors. This is a CMOS Sensor type sensor that measures 13.2 x 8.8 mm. The ISO sensitivity on this camera ranges from 125 to 12800. This 20 Megapixel enabled camera has a focal length of 24 - 100 mm. The camera features Multi, Center-weighted, Spot and Partial Metering. The camera also has a maximum shutter speed of 1/2000 sec. In terms of AF, the camera has Contrast Detect (sensor), Multi-area, Center, Selective single-point, Tracking, Single, Continuous, Touch, Face Detection, Live View AF modes. The camera hosts a manual focus option with 4.2 X optical zoom and 4 X Digital Zoom. You can also shoot 5.9 fps with continuous shot mode. In terms of Connectivity, this camera features USB 2.0 cable, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) as well as NFC connectivity.

Design and Display:

The Powershot G 5X has an updated design with new control layout and grip. It measures 112 x 76 x 44 mm and weighs 353 grams. In terms of display, the camera features a 3-inch touch-enabled display that is quite crisp and sharp with 1040 k-dot resolution but does not have an image stabilizer. The camera has a video display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with MPEG-4, H.264. It also has star time-lapse, Miniature effect, and digest modes support.
